Member Meeting #3: ACI/PTI 320-25: Adoption of Code Changes including the Dual-Banded PT Layout

This presentation will include an in-depth look at the newly published ACI-PTI 320 Post-Tensioned Concrete Code. Presented by Carol Hayak (Prior ACI/PTI 320 Chair) and Don Kline (Current Chair), this session will explain the purpose and scope of the new code, how it is organized, and how it complements ACI 318. The speakers will also highlight key provisions unique to ACI-PTI 320 and what they mean for practicing engineers and designers.  For the first time, this Code allows the use of the dual-banded PT tendon layout.

Carol Hayak - CCL Chief Technical Officer, ACI-PTI 320 Committee Past Chair
Carol Hayek has over 25 years of U.S. and international experience in the post‑tensioning field and other structural engineering areas, with a focus on new technologies, product and structural research and development, patenting, structural design, repair and strengthening, process implementation, and training programs. She has contributed to the development of new post-tensioned slab systems with fiber concrete, and the development of new bonded and unbonded post‑tensioning systems with multiple patents filed. Previously, she served as Chair of ACI/PTI 320‑25, Chair of the PTI Building Design Committee, and member of the PTI Technical Advisory Board. 

Don Kline - Kline Engineering President, ACI-PTI 320 Committee Chair
Don Kline, founder and CEO of Kline Engineering & Consulting, LLC, has over three decades of experience in the design, analysis, construction, and preservation of concrete structures. Throughout his career, Don has specialized in the engineering of post-tensioned and conventionally reinforced concrete buildings, deep and shallow foundations, and resilient structural systems designed to withstand wind and seismic forces. Don currently serves as Chair of the ACI-PTI 320 Code Committee, leading the development of the ACI-PTI 320-25 Building Code Requirements for Post-Tensioned Structural Concrete, the industry’s first unified design code for post-tensioned buildings.
