On August 23, the Mineral Earthquake shook the Washington metro area and had a significant impact on some of DC's most iconic structures.  The flying buttresses, pinnacles, and gargoyles of Washington National Cathedral were some of the most visibly-damaged masonry components in the region following the magnitude 5.8 quake.  Seven years later, the Washington National Cathedral community continues the ongoing mission of restoring and reinforcing the Cathedral structure for generations to come.

Please join us on October 10th for a tour of the ongoing earthquake repairs at the Washington National Cathedral.  This event will feature both a presentation that highlights the history of the Cathedral and the repairs as well as a walking tour featuring select components of exterior masonry.  Bring your walking shoes, sketch books, and a good dose of curiosity as we explore the art of gothic engineering in the 21st century.

This event is free, just bring questions!
