Proposed Bylaw Changes
Over the past year, the Executive Committee has reviewed the bylaws to address inconsistencies and conflicts, as well as updates to reflect current operations. The proposed updates do not alter the mission or intent of the organization. Corporate Member firm representatives will be contacted directly to vote on the proposed changes later this month. We encourage all members to read our proposed bylaw changes and share any feedback with the Board at board@seamw.org by 9/24.
The most substantive changes include:
- Adding an Individual Affiliate Member (non-voting) category (e.g., retirees, academics, former practitioners, etc.)
- Defining the membership and fiscal year as beginning September 1
- Expanding the Executive Committee to include a Young Member Group representative and optional Ex Officio member, and establishing a leadership track for succession from Vice-Chairperson to Chairperson
- Allowing the Secretary and Treasurer to serve multi-year terms for continuity
- Authorizing SEA-MW to provide professional development hours (PDHs) to support licensure
- Updating standing committees and requiring special committees/task forces to last at least six months
- Clarifying financial procedures and specifying that assets will go to NCSEA if the organization dissolves
We look forward to hearing your feedback and hope to see you on September 24th for our Fall Kickoff!
Sincerely,
SEA-MW Executive Committee
